Charles Olivieri-Munroe and Krzysztof Penderecki met in Krakow at the composer's home a week before the 50th anniversary of the first performance of his iconic and revolutionary work Passion and Death of Christ according to St. Luke. The work scored for triple chorus, solo soprano, baritone, bass, speaker and large orchestra was first performed in 1966 when the composer was 33 years old. Maestro Olivieri-Munroe must navigate through an avantgarde orchestral score often missing bar lines, and common musical nomenclature. At the meeting not only did the composer gift the Canadian conductor with a new score of the work but he also lent his own original score for the purpose of the preparing himself before next Tuesday's first rehearsal with the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.
